I am entering the convent of the Discalced Carmelites and am seeking any and all honest spiritual advice.
Pax ChristiSpiritually speaking I am leaving this world as of September 7th. What advice could you give?
You remind me of my readings. At a certain dark times of the Catholic church, it was thru monks, nuns, priests and other saintly people that did the job and spread the Truth/gospel of Christ. Thru them, the church did survived.
To continue the good works in this precarious times, is travelling thru that narrow road. But Jesus promise, your rewards is waiting for you.

It is a tough choice. At least for a while, be open to the idea that such a life is not for everyone. ALWAYS be honest with yourself in the way you feel. Also be honest with your Mother Superior and any teachers, tutors, whatever. I think in this case it goes without saying, but if you really want this life, be honest with God about what is going on at the time.
I knew a woman who was once a nun and left the convent after a long time. She lost faith, not with God but with the immediate hierarchy of her order. Just remember that even the deepest faith in God will not help if you can't stand the people above you in your environment. You are people, too, and have these little foibles called feelings.
Having said that, I also wish you the best of luck in getting into a good situation.
You are runing away from the ';fight';, it's my opinion.
The ultimte goal of all christians is to ';preach the good news of the Kingdom';; how do you intent to do that?
The source of the knowledge concerning christians is and will always be ';your word, sanctify them with your word; your word IS the truth';.
Paul said he would not ask the brothers to leave the world, but rather to be protected from it. By running into a convent, that is exactly what you will be doing. But this is only my opinion.
I pray that God keeps you covered in his ever loving presence and instill in you all of those things that will be Holy and Pleasing in his site...I pray that his annointing is immersed and rooted within you so that it keeps you grounded and spiritually prepared for this new loving experience that you are about to embark upon....
May God Bless you, keep you and forever camp his angels around you and give you peace, peace in your soul, your mind and in your heart......For he said in his word that if we will only seek his face, then we will hear from heaven and he will heal our land....I thank God for people like you, who so willingly and unselfishly give up a part of themselves in dedication to our most Righteous, Faithful, Loving and our All Powerful God.......
May the Lord keep you forever ';clothed'; in the bosom of his loving embraces....
God Bless you Sister.......
Spiritually speaking, always remember there's more to the picture than what meets the eye. I also say, best wishes to you, and may the Lord guide your every step. I am pretty much leaving this world on Sept. 8th for 38,000 acres in the Sonoran Desert - the best I can do to distance myself from society.
My advice is that recommended by the Virgin Mary herself--pray the rosary attentively, with a humble, childlike love for Our Spiritual Mother--at least 15 decades daily. Do penance--fast on bread and water at least twice a week, and always remember--never, ever let Satan convince you that your love for Mary is in any way offensive to her Son.
God bless!
Dave
I don't know that I could give any advice to someone who is already making one of the greatest moves in life that anyone ever could. I will always have you in my prayers and pray for your continued strength in Christ Jesus. I am overcome with a deep sense of joy and happiness for you. What can I say but that ';you're the greatest!!'; I know Jesus really is, but I'm so happy for you that I just had to say that. God, as in our loving and living Lord, Jesus our Christ, Bless you and be with you always!!
Well. Uh... Have fun. Come and Visit sometime.
Pax Christi.
I will give you a quote by Saint Brigid of Ireland:
I would like the angels of Heaven to be among us. I would like an abundance of peace. I would like full vessels of charity. I would like rich treasures of mercy. I would like cheerfulness to preside over all. I would like Jesus to be present. I would like the three Marys of illustrious renown to be with us. I would like the friends of Heaven to be gathered around us from all parts. I would like myself to be a rent payer to the Lord; that I should suffer distress, that he would bestow a good blessing upon me. I would like a great lake of beer for the King of Kings. I would like to be watching Heaven's family drinking it through all eternity
And Bl. Teresa of Calcutta:
Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.
';Attribute to God every good that you have received. If you take credit for something that does not belong to you, you will be guilty of theft.';
-St Anthony
((Ave Maria)), Spiritually speaking, how wonderful! I've often imagined what life would be like as a cloistered contemplative. It's said we are all called to be saints. Thank you for choosing to not only hear the call.. but to listen %26amp; do. And thank you for all the prayers you will say %26amp; the sacrifices you will make.
I'm not sure what kind of spiritual advice I, as someone who admires what you're doing, can offer you, except to let your family %26amp; friends know that you'll keep them in your prayers and then, when it's time to go, just love, serve %26amp; trust our Lord with all your heart, mind, body %26amp; soul.

';Let nothing disturb thee; Let nothing dismay thee;
All things pass; God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God finds he lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.';

';Abide in peace, banish cares, take no account of all that happens,
and you will serve God according to his good pleasure and rest in him.';

One more bit (or perhaps a crumb) of advice. If permitted, maybe bring or pass along those recipes for chocolate chips %26amp; snicker doodles? No, I never forgot that question %26amp; how it made our tummies grumble. *chuckle*
Next Monday, I will be thinking of you %26amp; remembering you in my prayers. Bless you, dear sister. ~callalily
';leaving this world'; what could that possibly mean? If you know of some way to leave this world without dying, please let me know. I will assemble a scientific investigation immediately... you would be in possession of something amazing!
I have no idea what your talking about but I will give you advice.
I suspect you mean death I can't be sure.
Talk to God thank him force time you had and forgiveness of anything you've done wrong. Let God give you a peace and take away for fear.
why?why?why? do they Seek the Truth there? hope so for your sake :-)please don't let em' turn you into the mean/cruel and evil nuns I grew up with in St. Mary's School and church...God Bless
Bless you, sister. I don't know if I have any great spiritual advice to give, except, always keep your heart tender, filled with love for God and for His creations.
Always Love. Follow the way of St. Terese. Never tire of your founders. Be sure that I always appreciate the life you gave for the rest of us on the outside. I'll pray for you as I know you will be for me.
I think you should consider every vow that you're going to have to take and indulge in those things now while you still have a chance since you'll never be able to do those things again.
I'm a Jewish person so I cannot advise you on matters of your faith;anyway I wish you the very best and may G-d reward all your endeavors.
I thought you were talking about suicide at first... I guess some advice would be not to try and fight people on the way.
If the world is your Lord's magnificent creation, why do you choose to leave it?
If that's what you want, then good luck! I hope it makes you happy.
Good Luck.
mmmmm.....I love caramel
Well good luck to you
Have a nice trip!
good luck, dont pich up any strangers with a chainsaw
If you want to become closer to your creator, recognize that it's power exists within you and every other living thing. It is an IT, not a HE.
While I'm sure you feel you are doing a good thing, the God force has nothing to do with any of this nonsense. Actually, I would say that both you and hunanity in general would benefit more from your participating in it, than dropping out to follow someone else's view of God.
You will do more good as a parent to your children than you could ever do in a hundred lifetimes in a convent.
God meant for us to have a family. I never truly understood God's love until I had a child.
