You can try patting and ice bags but this does seem to do the trick.Any advice on what to do when you have a itchy tattoo?
You don't really want to pat it, it's just going to temporarily relieve the itching, it'll come right back once you stop. Putting lotion on the tattoo helps with the itching, but you don't want to put on too much or put it on too many times in 1 day as this can cause a rash that could affect the ink of the tattoo. So, keep it well moisturized as this will help the itching, but don't put it on every time it itches!
Hi Sophie - my friend told me to slap mine when it was itching - now I think he was having me on, but I did pat it (rather than scratching, which as we all know, is BAD!) and patting helped a lot. Oh and a thin layer of non perfumed lotion. xx

Patting can help - but keeping it moisturised is the best option :)
Whatever you do don't scratch it on any account. When I had my tattoo I put on coco butter. It was the best thing that helped me :) Hope this helps. Enjoy having a tattoo. Ha ha :) X
yeah patting gently is what i always do.


if you put to much lotion on the pours will become blocked and the ink will fall out

you should not use any lotions with alcohol or perfume base. What I suggest that I used was A%26amp;D ointment. Worked well and I didn't even scab!! Good luck!
first clean with soap and warm water... then use Tattoo Goo twice daily. Or an A%26amp;D ointment if ou dont have the Tattoo Goo.
more lotion, curel or lubriderm non-scented lotion. if it itches, its too dry.
When mine would start itching I would smack it a few times and that helped it.
put A%26amp;D cream on it if it gets itchy never scratch cause you will remove the ink messing up your tat
Whatever you do dont scratch. put some E45 or non scented moisturiser on it.
when mine itched i would put lotion it always seemed to help me.
put a lot of lotion on it. rubbing in the lotion will make it stop itching
