A degree in Psychology would help. Besides, you will need to be good in writing. What degree do you need for an Advice Columnist?
If that is your passion journalism and maybe a minor in psycology or sociiology because in most of the advice colomuns people are asking for opinion on social issues or how they feel about something and sociology deals with how people are in society and psycology deals with a single person and how they feel etc. What I would do is look at your local newspaper and see what kind of questions people are asking and see at your school of choice what kind of majors they offer and try to line up what you want. But counslers and advisors at colleges are always knowledgable on what cources can benefit in a profession of choice. Good Luck! What degree do you need for an Advice Columnist?
I think you have to have some sort of English or Journalism major to do any work with public publications.
a level 12 from yahoo answers
While there is no specific degree for this, you might give yourself an edge getting hired by a newpaper by getting some credentials that will help you establish yourself as someone that can either communicate well or is an expert in a field... (English degree, communications, psychology, sociology, etc.)
Dan Savage, for example, has little to no formal training and yet is one of the top syndicated advice columnists in the country.
Perhaps journalism. But if company wanted you just because you give good advice, probably none.
I dont think its necessary to have any at all, but it couldnt hurt to have a degree in social work or psychology.
Probably a degree in communications
