Neutering a male isn't nearly as big a deal as spaying a female. The vet's office will give you very detailed after-surgery care info when you pick him up.

Basically, the site needs to be kept very clean and totally dry until the stitches come out. If he's got external stitches, the vet needs to supply you with an elizabethan collar that you need to keep on him whenever you can't watch him to prevent him from tearing out the stitches and needing anesthetic again to re-suture.

He needs to be kept a little quiet while he's healing. And when you get him home, he'll still be feeling the anesthetic and will want to sleep. He also won't want to eat that day because the anesthetic would most likely make him vomit. Try to get him to drink sometime before the end of the day.Do you have any post neutering doggy care advice ,Thank you!!?
Castration is NOT a big deal!

It'll be drunk-ish when it gets home, does NOT need analgesics, does NOT need a stupid elizabethan collar....

The GIGANTIC one inch incision will be healed in 24 hrs.

Stop freaking out.
No rough play or exercise for a week or so, keep him from bothering the incision site, keep him clean and out of the dirt. Check the site daily for infection and then chill. Cause too much bother with the surgery site might upset the dog. If he messes with the site he may require an e-collar for his safety, since some dog will mutilate themselves if left to their own devices. But that is very rare.
make sure you ask for some kind of pain medication to give once he gets home should he need it.
Keep him as quiet as possible, leash walk him only, don't let him just take off running in the yard. Try to discourage him from jumping up and down off furniture and do not let him excessively lick/chew at his incision. If he does start to lick at it you may need to invest in an e-collar so that he cannot reach it. Do not bathe him for 10 days or until his incision is healed. Ask your veterinarian to send you home with some medication for pain and inflammation and keep him as comfy and quiet as possible for the next 10-14 days.
Try not to laugh when you see him in that big thing that they send him home with, - it will look like a big lampshade around his neck !! Other than that , he'll be fine. The vet will let you know what to do, just don't let him mess with the stitches. :-)
I have an article for you on neutering and what to expect.

For my guy he had invasive surgery b/c one of his testicles didn't drop so they had to go looking for it. He recovered great. You just need to keep them quiet for a few days.
